Jonathon "Boogie" Long

Jonathon "Boogie" Long is a blues-rock guitar shredder of the modern era, with an eclectic palette steeped in the deep blues and gospel of the Gulf South. He is an evocative songwriter with a dynamic vocal range; his energetic, crowd-pleasing shows prompting Country Roads Magazine to assert that Long is “the ringmaster, trapeze artist and human cannonball of a live blues-rock circus.”  He is an inductee in the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, and has earned a shelf-load of awards and honors. He is a staple on blues stages around the world and at home, including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival.

Born in Baton Rouge, Long started out early, playing his first club at age ten alongside local blues legends like Kenny Neal and Rudy Richard. At 14, he quit school to play bass for Henry Turner, Jr, then on the road with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Tyree Neal, Chris Duarte, and with 2Hipnotic and Big Luther Kent. Long won Guitar Center’s 2011 “best unsigned blues guitarist” competition, and took advantage of the recording session prize to create his debut album, The Pete Anderson Sessions, named for the producer. He’s released several more, two of which made it to the Billboard Top Ten Blues Albums. He is often billed with blues-rock maven Samantha Fish and recorded his last two releases on her Wild Heart Records label, including the 2021 Parables of a Southern Man, with the hit single “Savior’s Face.”
