Gal Holiday & The Honky Tonk Revue were at the forefront of New Orleans’ developing country and swing scene when they formed back in 2004. Powered up front by Vanessa Niemann’s masterful vocals and impeccable stage presence, the band remains a top dancehall favorite. Niemann, aka The Gal, has played music most of her life, and her feisty attitude and originality have sparked the moniker “The Punk Rock Patsy Cline.” The band has won a slew of awards and keeps the two-steppers coming back with their original hits and fresh takes on classic country covers. They are staples at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and other premiere music events, and have shared the stage with the likes of Willie Nelson, Marcia Ball, and the Blind Boys of Alabama. Niemann has also worked with a hefty roster of talent, ranging from Dr. John to the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and lately has been working with North Mississippi creative genius Jimbo Mathus. In 2019, Niemann was inducted into the Louisiana Folklife Center’s Hall of Master Folk Artists, a testament to the artist’s unique musical spirit and the band’s enduring authenticity.
