The presence and spirit of Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong can be found in books, in movies, and on recordings spanning many decades -- but in New Orleans, he’s very much alive in another way: in the spirit of the musicians of the city. On this week’s program, titled "In Search of Satchmo," we go looking for that spirit through music and stories.
You can listen to NEW ORLEANS CALLING on WWOZ every Saturday morning from 7-8 am, and you can listen online to recent episodes!
Every week on NEW ORLEANS CALLING, we provide additional material online to accompany each show, in case you're interested in finding out more... Sometimes it's going more in-depth, sometimes it's something cool we didn't have time to go into, and sometimes it's just plain fun.
