Paul Sanchez was a longtime member of the New Orleans rock band Cowboy Mouth. Mystery Street is located near the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course, where Jazz Fest is held every spring. Signs in the festival read "Exit to Mystery Street," hence the name of the song.
John Boutte is the most visible member of the famous New Orleans Boutte family of singers. His recording of "Treme Song" became famous as the opening them to the HBO series Treme.
