WWOZ Celebrates Three Centuries of New OrleansNew Orleans is turning 300 next year, and WWOZ is celebrating! Starting in January, you'll be able to hear our Tricentennial Music Moments on WWOZ. Many beloved New Orleans musicians and personalities are going to entertain, inform, and surprise you with great moments from 300 years of music history in the Crescent City. You'll hear these brief pieces at different times each day on WWOZ. Keep listening because we'll have new moments airing every week, all year long! |

2017 in VideoCheck out sixteen sweet videos recorded by the WWOZ Video Department during 2017. They include performances by Henry Butler, Aurora Nealand & Tom McDermott, Cyril Neville, Kristin Diable, and D.L. Menard, plus festivals, second lines and other parades, drumlines and lots more great memories. |

2017 in 100 PhotosOnce again, our cadre of volunteer photographers captured thousands of striking images of New Orleans musical culture. It was extremely difficult, but we've selected about a hundred (or so) examples of their best work from the year's in-studio performances, festivals, parades, pledge drives, and other events. Big thanks to Ryan Hodgson-Rigsbee, Kichea S. Burt, Eli Mergel, Leona Strassberg Steiner, Charlie Steiner, Mark PoKempner, Black Mold, Olivia Greene, Bill Sasser, Ken Maldonado, Michael E. McAndrew and the other volunteer photographers whose work is represented in this amazing Flickr set. |

Show Host Spotlight: Bill DeTurkWWOZ is proud to shine the spotlight on Bill DeTurk, veteran host of the legendary "Louisiana Music Party" alternating with host Black Mold on Fridays from 11a-2p. Bill started volunteering more than 20 years ago as a Livewire producer, when the station was still broadcasting from Armstrong Park. It was Bill who coined the phrase "Get out there and hear some live, local music!" Don't miss his Frightening Holiday Music Party, which airs on December 15 and features some very unusual and obscure holiday tunes. Thanks for all you do, Bill DeTurk! |

Volunteer Spotlight: Michael LongfieldIt’s hard to imagine how we managed without our volunteer-extraordinaire, Michael Longfield. Since he started volunteering at WWOZ in January, he's filled all kinds of roles. He's been a stellar receptionist and greeter at the front desk, and he's also done production work and data entry. He assists the Midnight Creeper with his playlist on Thursday afternoons from 2-4 pm. In addition to being a bicycle aficionado, this native of Seattle also ran a low power television station in Aspen, Colorado for 5 years. We’re so glad you’re part of the 'OZ family, Michael! |
