The Treme Brass Band is steeped in the deep cultural traditions of New Orleans, one of the most established and revered brass bands in the city – indeed, the world. Led by the esteemed Benny Jones Sr., the Treme Brass Band has served as a home for Kermit Ruffins, James Andrews, Kirk Joseph, Corey Henry, and the legendary Uncle Lionel Batiste (who passed away in 2012), Named for the storied Crescent City neighborhood, the Treme Brass Band can be found on stages around the world and at home, or in the streets as part of a jazz funeral or a Mardi Gras parade. The band honors their musical traditions by wearing the standard band uniform of band cap and white shirt, but they are anything but staid when delivering energetic tunes like the crowd favorite “Gimme My Money Back” or bouncing with Big Freedia.

The band has earned a slew of accolades, including receiving a 2006 National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the nation’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. They are featured in the 2011 documentary “Tradition is a Temple,” and were predominantly featured in the HBO series “Treme.”
