Tab Benoit

Tab Benoit emerged on the blues guitar scene in the early 1990s with his swampy, hard-driving sound and has become one of the genre’s most enduring and talented forces. The Houma, Louisiana native grew up with local Cajun and country influences, and wound his way to Baton Rouge to jam with Tabby Thomas and other regional blues superstars. He announced his presence with authority when he released the 1992 “Nice and Warm,” which put him on the blues guitar map and set the stage for what continues to be a hard-touring, highly successful career.

In addition to a rigorous performance and recording schedule, Benoit uses his fame and publicity to raise awareness of Louisiana’s coastal erosion crisis, starting with his 2002 album “Wetlands,” and his creation of the non-profit Voice of the Wetlands Foundation, and his stellar musical conglomeration, the Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars, including Anders Osborne, Johnny Sansone, Cyril Neville, George Porter, Jr., Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Waylon Thibodeaux, and Johnny Vidacovich. He has performed and recorded with a high end roster of blues musicians, and has excelled on the other side of the recording console as a producer, especially for his own record label, Whiskey Bayou. He has won a shelf-load of awards, wears outstandingly colorful shirts, and been featured on TV and in films, most notably, the IMAX film “Hurricane on the Bayou.”
