The Revivalists are a hard-touring New Orleans-based alternative rock band with an international fan base, built by consummate musicianship and amplified by the phenomenal success of their 2015 hit single, “Wish I Knew You” from their equally successful album Men Amongst Mountains. Guitarist Zack Feinberg and lyricist and singer David Shaw formed the group in 2007, along with Ed Williams on pedal steel, Rob Ingraham on sax, bassist George Gekas, the multi-talented Michael Girardot on keyboards and trumpet, and the powerful dual drummer team of Andrew Campanelli and PJ Howard (who joined the group later on). The band began shedding at clubs like Checkpoint Charlie’s and Tipitina’s, and soon became local and regional favorites.
All that changed, however, with the 2015 release of The Revivalists’ third album, Men Amongst Mountains, which hit the airwaves with a bang and sent the band into the upper echelons. The single “I Wish I Knew You” shot to #1 on both Billboard’s Alternative and Adult Alternative charts, and the song stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks and was certified platinum. Rolling Stone tagged them as among “Ten Artists You Need to Know.” They joined Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on the Today show and performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, Conan and more. To date, their songs have been streamed over half a billion times.
The Revivalists built on that success with steady touring and with the 2018 release, Take Good Care, which again charted high and stoked their popularity. After a pair of releases made at the famed Muscle Shoals studios, they released their most recent album in 2023, Pour it Out into the Night, which includes the hit single “Kid.” The band has opened for The Rolling Stones and many others, and headlined at top-flight venues around the world. They use their talents to promote several charity efforts, and have a fundraising partnership with NOLA Brewing for The Revivalists American Pale Ale beer.
