Juvenile is a rapper and songwriter and seminal contributor to the rise of Cash Money Records and the Southern hip-hop scene. Juvenile played a pivotal role in popularizing the "bounce" style of rap music, characterized by its energetic beats and catchy hooks. 

Born Terius Gray and raised in New Orleans’ gritty Magnolia Housing Projects, Juvenile began rapping locally in the early 1990s, and soon gained national attention, working with Cash Money’s The Hot Boyz as well as Mannie Fresh, Lil Wayne, and B.G..  His 1998 breakout record, 400 Degreez, included the huge hit single “Back That Thang Up” (or, the less radio-friendly “Back That Azz Up”), and established Juvenile as a national powerhouse.

Over the years, Juvenile has issued numerous albums and singles, with a number of charting hits, including his 2003 hit “Slow Motion” with Soulja Slim. In 2023 he performed on the popular National Public Radio’s Tiny Desk Concerts, along with Mannie Fresh, Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty, and the Louisiana Philharmonic, a show that went viral and garnered several million views. He remains a powerful figure in the hip-hop universe and at home as a performer and producer.
