Creole String Beans

The Creole String Beans is a supergroup sextet celebrating the jukebox days of New Orleans rock n roll. The band mixes up a healthy dose of buried treasures from Fats Domino, John Fred, Frankie Ford, and other swampy pop and R&B sounds of the late ‘50s and early ‘60s with a full portion of peppy and sophisticated originals. Fronting the band are Acadiana natives and music veterans Rob Savoy on bass and vocals and Rick Olivier on guitar and vocals. They are joined by Brian Rini on keys, Mike Sipos on drums, and the world-famous Terrytown Horns: Travis Blotsky on tenor and dapper Derek Huston on bari sax. Their 2011 album Shrimp Boots and Vintage Suits remains a classic, as is the 2016 Golden Crown, with the snaky “Blues Cha Cha” and the catchy ska-swamp “get off my lawn” anthem, “Boom Boom.”
