Bayou Manouche

Bayou Manouche is a local Gypsy Jazz band playing a range of up-tempo hot jazz, Bal-musettes (originally, a stylized French waltz) and swinging standards. Influenced by the styles of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli, who were creating a distinct sound in Europe in the 1930s, this music has remained fresh, alive, and relevant, even today, and is experiencing a resurgence in popularity around the world. Listeners often say they have felt transported to another place and era. Members include: Vincent Schmidt--accordion; Adolph Lopez--guitar, vocals; Jesse LaMarca--guitar; Victoria Budlong--upright bass, vocals; Clare McKinley--violin.
