WWOZ Looks Back at a Great 2008!

Published on: January 1st, 2009

2008 saw its share of ups and downs, but the music was always in the stratosphere. Check out these slideshows of the highlights of WWOZ's year in music, and wax a bit nostalgic with us as we enter the new year. We hope you enjoyed the music as much as we did, and we're counting on you to keep listening to 'OZ and supporting New Orleans music in 2009. When you're done, head on over to our Community Forum, under the topic Great Musical Moments of 2008.

To help jog your memory, take a look at some of WWOZ's great moments in 2008, including our live coverage of the Crescent City Blues Festival and the 10th anniversary Voodoo Fest, live broadcasts from our Fall Membership Drive and December Power Drive, the special holiday show with Irma Thomas & David Torkanowsky, and the legendary Dave Bartholomew's live in-studio celebration of his birthday on Christmas Eve.

Also on hand for the celebration were sons Ron, Don, and Dave Jr., as well as old friends and collaborators Cosimo Matassa, Bunchie Johnson, Mac Johnson, and more.
