Mr. Quintron & Miss Pussy Cat kicked off the "Too Thirsty 4 Love Tour" at The Blue Moon Saloon and Guest House in Lafayette, La. on Thursday.
This is a pretty neat set-up. The Blue Moon is a "European-style" hostel with a back porch where the bands perform. Before the show, we hung out with other guests and musicians and were treated to Mr. Quintron tickling the keys on the piano that guest are welcomed to play. I felt like I was in the Spellcaster Lodge in the Bywater.
Golden Triangle, who will be opening the shows on the tour, did a good job of warming up the large crowd with what their MySpace page refers to as a "down-tempo / jungle / garage" sound.
The crowd was then treated to a puppet show in which a Santa Claus puppet fired an AK-47 machine gun on I believe a puppet called "Trixie."
In his 90-minute set, Mr. Quintron played several songs off his new release "Too Thirsty 4 Love" coming out on October 14 on Goner Records.
The show was very well attended with plenty of crowd participation. Mr. Quintron and Miss Pussy Cat made several trips out into the audience during the performance. At one point he, Miss Pussy Cat and another backup singer did a maraca solo at the back bar leaving the stage with the organ and drum buddy on auto play. It was priceless!
The show was a good kick-off for their upcoming tour.
Thanks to everyone at The Blue Moon Saloon and Guest House for making us feel at home!
