Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band released their latest album, Zydeco Stuff, last month on Swampadellic Records. Zydeco Stuff is another smooth, well-produced album from this group of veteran performers. Carrier is a third-generation zydeco artist with such famous relatives as Roy Carrier (father), Warren Carrier (grandfather), and cousins Bebe and Calvin Carrier.

Chubby began his musical career at the age of 12 by playing drums with his father's band. He began playing the accordion at the age of 15. By age 17, Chubby had begun to play with Terrance Siemien and toured the world for 2 1/2 years before forming his own band in 1989.

Zydeco Stuff ranges from the risque ("Back Porch") to romantic ("Dance WIth Me Tonight," "Zydeco Stuff") and the high-energy/humorous ("Let the Meatball Roll," "Chicken On A Bone") to nostalgic storytelling ("Good Ol' Paw Paw," "I Wanna Go Back"). One of the best tracks on the album is the R&B-inflected "All My Life." The group's musicianship shines on "Make Up Your Mind" and "Hello Josephine."

Zydeco Stuff is available on MP3 from iTunes and MP3/CD from Amazon.

Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band will be performing at the Mid-City Rock'n'Bowl on Thursday, November 5, and at the Blue Moon Saloon in Lafayette on Sunday, November 15.
