The Forgotten Souls Brass Band is a Crescent City supergroup that offers up the sounds of the city’s legendary brass band scene, the spirit of the Mardi Gras Indians, and vintage rockin’, rollin’ New Orleans R&B. Formed in 2000, this all-star group is comprised of musicians from the city’s most vaunted brass bands, including members of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Rebirth Brass Band, the Charles Barbarin Memorial Brass Band, the Junior Olympia Brass Band and Kirk Joseph’s Backyard Groove, among others. The Forgotten Souls bring old school authenticity to the streets and are favorites at second lines, at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and other local festivals. They’ve released several albums, covering standards like Earl King’s “Big Chief” and the classic Smokey Johnson crowd-pleaser, “It Ain’t My Fault.”
