Hurricane Katrina: Six Years Later
WWOZ looks forward as we commemorate the sixth anniversary of Katrina. We've compiled Katrina-related community events, along with a feature report by our community partner The Lens and audio documentaries by show host George Ingmire that pay homage to New Orleans cultural figures and icons that passed in the aftermath of Katrina.
Insight New Orleans - Tell Us What You Know!
WWOZ has partnered with The Lens, an investigative news source for the Greater New Orleans region, to bring you Insight New Orleans. Insight New Orleans is a collaborative project that solicits the expertise of everyday citizens on issues near and dear to our hearts. You have something to say about second line culture? On music education? The struggle of music venues post-Katrina? On charter schools? Shout out about it!

Takin' It To the Streets: Second Line Season Starts Up
It's that time of year again, when even though it may feel like it's 108 degrees outside, social aid and pleasure clubs take to the streets to celebrate our neighborhoods. This season begins with The Valley of the Silent Men parading on August 28. Keep up to date with DJ Action Jackson's interviews, parade route sheets and other events surrounding the social aid and pleasure club community.

Swamp Shop Contest Ends August 31
Last call for photos of you rocking your 'OZ gear! Dark Chocolate Mousse with Citrus and Grand Marnier
Impress your friends with a fancy dessert from one of our favorite soul food restaurants in New Orleans, Dooky Chase. Dooky Chase may be better known for its homestyle fried chicken and lunchtime buffets, but this is something worth whipping up just for the "oohs" and "ahhs." If you like the recipe, then visit Louisiana Cookin' magazine. Subscribe with the promotion code wwoz2011, and they'll donate $5 to WWOZ.
