Dear Listener,
The moon is foole and Aprill hath al the floures perced to the roote. Just a few days ago, French Quarter Fest pulsed powerful with good feelings and today the weather remains glorious. Treme prepares for a new round of Simonizing and excitement in the clubs is quickly approaching frenzy pitch.
By now, ‘OZilians are probably inclined to take for granted the station’s massive presence at the Fair Grounds—check out all the details in the Jazz Fest article below about our live broadcasts, the WWOZ Jazz Tent and the WWOZ Hospitality Tent.
We'll have ‘OZ’s two newly refreshed Mango Freeze booths dishing up the same award-winning pure mango sorbet with all its delectable possibilities.
This year, we’ve piled on even more layers. We'll be simulcasting segments of WWOZ’s Jazz Fest coverage with up to as many as 40 public radio stations in cities all around the country broadcasting, including Washington, D.C., Denver and San Diego. We'll also be hosting producers from the Association of Independents in Radio and a meet-up of fellow traveler stations KEXP, Seattle and WFMU, Newark/New York to address “Next Generation Radio.”
And of course, on Monday, May 2 we'll be presenting WWOZ’s 23rd Annual Piano Night at the House of Blues! Come out and join us, and when you’re not on site, tune in, login or "app-in" (And don’t forget this year's online auction!).
Truly Jazz Fest looms large and for WWOZ, the HIGH SEASON is upon us.
Yours in Rose Mint Teas and Mango Freeze,
David Freedman
General Manager
