Jelly Roll Justice is moving to the opposite side of the continent after attending "Essentially Ellington" held by Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.
This time he will be visiting the Healdsburg Jazz Fest in Sonoma County where headliners like Esperanza Spalding, Jason Moran and Charlie Hayden will be featured.
The festival takes place at various venues from Friday, June 4th through Sunday, June 13th in Healdsburg which is on the Russian River, in the heart of wine country, and only one and a half hours north of San Francisco.
This year's festival has a thrilling international cast of improvisers, from artists who defined their era half a century ago to today's most innovative musicians. In addition to Spalding, Moran and Hayden, artists featured include Ravi Coltrane, Geri Allen, Bill Frisell, Oscar Castro-Neves, Leny Andrade, Romero Lubambo, George Cables, Craig Handy, Gretchen Parlato, Dafnis Prieto, Peter Apfelbaum, Claudia Villela, the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble and more.
Events include Bossa Nova On The Green, a jazz and wine dinner, the Keeper Of The Flame day concert and a free Latin Jazz concert.
Stay tuned...and Jelly Roll will report how it all comes down --- or should I say "up"?
