WWOZ's Dean Ellis got to sit down with Trey Anastasio of The Trey Anastasio Band before they rocked the Gentilly Stage on Day 1 of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival last Friday, April 28, 2017.
There are "more great local musicians in this town today than in the rest of the country combined," he says before expanding on his relationship to New Orleans music-- including early jazz, Professor Longhair, and the casual beauty of Kermit Ruffins' band's dynamic onstage. He also touches on the blessing and curse that WWOZ and Phish have in common.
Thanks to Trey Anastasio for chatting with us and his vocal support of 'OZ!
